The primary function of the Philosopher's House is "tea house" -- but it's so much more than that. At this destination, you will get the chance to dive head first into other cultures and learn what other places in the world are like. So pinkies out for a day spent at this sophisticated outdoor tea house in Johnson City, Tennessee.
I’ve driven by this spot many times without realizing what it was. From the road, it just looks like a fenced-in yard, but just beyond the wooded slats is a world of opportunities as you journey into many different cultures. It wasn’t until I heard multiple people talking about it around town that I took the time to look into it. What I found was a beautiful spot to sip tea.
Just look at this view from the patio! Allow the peaceful serenity from the mountains to wash over you as you soak up the warm sun and enjoy the view. This is a long-time Tennessee tradition so I think it fits nicely in our Appalachian lifestyle.
If you prefer, you can head inside to the sound of clinking tea cups and happy guests fellowshipping together.
This tea house is known for its delicious beverages sure to make you want to return again and again -- especially since they rotate seasonal favorites! On a warm day, sip a peach tea (inspired by Princess Peach from the Mario video games) or enjoy a splash of watermelon flavor for that nostalgic summer vibe. During the cold months grip your hands around a warming classic loose-leaf tea that brings to mind visiting a friend that you haven't seen for a long time.
You will want to keep an eye out for many of the events hosted throughout the year. Live musical performances to opportunities to immerse yourself in other cultures where you can learn how people live across the world. You never know what to expect but the best way to find out is to step through the doors and fully embrace the learning experience.
You won’t want to miss the opportunity to try something new and experience the delicious teas that are offered.
The Philosopher’s House is so much more than just an outdoor cafe in Tennessee. Join a class, read a book, soak in the views, and try some new teas when you visit. If you would like to learn more about their events, make sure to check out The Philosopher’s House website.
