If you have driven down by ETSU in the summer of 2023 you may have noticed an old Bojangles building with alot of construction surrounding it. The building was bought and has undergone a transformation into one of the newest restaurants in the area. Biscuit Doodle in Johnson City, Tennessee, is now open for business and besides having an awesome name, they make some incredible biscuit-themed dishes.

Alex Bomba is the man behind the buttery breaded treats and his journey is a very interesting one. Realizing he has a knack for cooking up succulent dishes in the kitchen he decided to take the leap and make it his full-time job.

His inlaws started Main Street Cafe in Jonesborough and he started putting his skills to use. As time went on they had plans to retire and Alex bought the business but that was only a taste of what was to come. The Winsor Speakeasy in Johnson City was next but it seemed to only be the beginning. The pandemic birthed alot of creative ideas and among those was Bomba’s delivery idea for his homemade bacon. I have personally tried a strip myself and I have to say it was the best bacon I have ever eaten. Taking the breakfast meats to a new level his latest foray landed him a brand new biscuit-themed restaurant called Biscuit Doodle.

The construction is done and what stands is a brand-new place where people can get their biscuit fix. It’s a great model for a restaurant if you think about it, biscuits and Southerners go together like, well, biscuits and gravy.

Inside is what you could call “fast casual” It's not the same as a fast food restaurant but you can get quality food fast. Sit down with family and friends and share in some good ole breakfast dishes with biscuits being the main draw.

Classic breakfast sandwiches can be found on the menu like bacon egg and cheese. Remember that homemade bacon being cooked up? You guessed it that's the same bacon used in all the dishes and it's to die for.

There are more involved sandwiches too like the applied named Kitchen Sink. You will want to sink your teeth into this sandwich which consists of crispy fried chicken, eggs, and bacon, smothered in sausage gravy, and topped with cheddar, between two soft buttery biscuits.

Everything is made fresh from scratch every day. So from the first bite to the last crumb you will be tasting a unique twist on a classic Southern favorite. All I can say is they really know how to butter your biscuits.

The old drive-thru window was left during the renovation so you can even pick up your order to go. Oh and in case you were wondering about the name, that comes from Bomba’s dog. He is a goldendoodle named Mosley and has become the mascot for this new biscuit eatery.
