Enjoy A Three-Course Meal And Fine Wine On The Newport Winter Foodies Stroll

Those waning days of winter can often result in some pretty vicious bouts of spring fever. While we might still have to bundle up, we can keep that spring fever at bay – at least for a few hours – by sampling some of the best food and fine wine in Rhode Island. The Newport Winter Foodies Stroll, a unique food tour in Newport, Rhode Island, sets off on select days through the end of March.

Count down the days to spring while indulging in some of Newport’s best food on the Newport Winter Foodies Stroll, a one-mile guided tour along historic Thames Street. Plan to spend at least a few hours on the tour.

The one-of-a-kind food tour features a three-course meal, one course at each of the three restaurants on the itinerary. Each course is paired with wine.

As you travel from one restaurant to the next, your seasoned tour guides, Tom and Sue, will offer insight into Newport’s long and storied history. The tour welcomes a maximum of 10 guests.

While the selection of restaurants may change, recent tours have started at Gardiner House for a glass of wine and an appetizer, such as the eggplant rollatini.

The Midtown Oyster Bar has hosted the main course, which consists of a salad, seafood entrée, and wine followed by a decadent dessert, sticky toffy pudding coupled with wine, at The Vanderbilt.

Newport Winter Foodies Tours sets off from Lee’s Wharf & Thames Street, where you’ll meet your tour guides, on Fridays and Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. Tours run through March 30, 2024.

If you can’t make it for the Newport Winter Foodies Tour, keep an eye out for the Newport Foodies Stroll. It includes five stops over nearly two miles and is generally offered from early May through mid-October.
