Rod's Grille in Warren, Rhode Island, is renowned for its classic hot wieners and vintage charm.
It may be known as the New York system, but the hot wiener is a classic Rhode Island-made staple. Made in a very specific way, this one-of-a-kind classic is quite possibly the most famous regional style of hot dog on the East Coast. And while there are plenty of places in the Ocean State to get it, the team at Rod's Grille always seems to get them right.
You'll find Rod's Grille at 6 Washington Street in Warren, where it has remained since its doors first opened in 1955.
Mariano and Margret Rodrigues and family first opened the eatery, dedicating their time to making it a beloved local favorite diner. But since they believed in a work-life balance, they always stayed closed on Sundays.
Rod's Grille has come a long way since 1955, but it still has a vintage charm unlike anything else you'll see in Rhody.
The same family, now in its third generation, still owns and operates the business.
This charming little spot serves a full breakfast all day, ranging from omelets to pancakes and French toast.
The most important meal of the day is taken seriously here.
As for the rest of the menu, classic diner fare seems to be the theme, like burgers and melts...
... but if you're looking for a delicious Rhode Island style hot wiener, don't hesitate to order it here.
This delightful delicacy consists of a natural-casing frankfurter in a steamed bun topped with mustard, chopped onion, celery salt, and a "secret" (ground beef-based) meat sauce.
The hot wieners here are out of this world, and we aren't the only ones who think so.

Rod's is open Tuesday - Sunday at 9 a.m.
Their hours of operation are likely to change, but they'll always stay closed on Sundays like Mariano and Margret would have wanted.
