Rhode Island’s Fondue Village Is Back For The Winter, And We Couldn’t Be Happier
Ocean House in Rhode Island offers a luxurious winter dining experience in private gondolas known as the Fondue Village.
There's no denying that some winter traditions are going to look different this year. But here in Rhode Island, we can still celebrate the season in plenty of ways. Three years ago, Watch Hill's beautiful Ocean House introduced their Fondue Village, a collection of luxury gondolas perfect for private dining. The gondolas instantly earned the attention of Food & Wine, Departures, and Forbes magazines, not to mention all the social media photo ops that ensued.
We're pleased to report the gondolas have returned to Ocean House for the winter, and they're better than ever.
Ocean House has become one of the most iconic seaside resorts in New England.
This beauty, which sits high on the bluffs of Watch Hill, is one of only 13 Forbes triple Five-Star resorts in the world.
There are plenty of good reasons to visit Ocean House in any season, but the Fondue Village is definitely a big draw in the winter.
Since their introduction three years ago, the private dining gondolas have earned the attention of many a Rhode Islander with a special occasion to celebrate.
Each vintage ski gondola has been beautifully restored and decked out warm woods, fine Alpine textiles, chandeliers, and other exotic details.
You can make a reservation for up to six guests, although this definitely makes an amazing date night for two.
Your five-star experience starts the moment you arrive.
Guests arrive on the Ocean House’s North Lawn, then enter a quiet Vermont Ski Gondola for a delicious four course meal.
And while the mouthwatering fondue is definitely the menu's main attraction, you'll have plenty of other tasty options to try.
The team has been serving a Fall Harvest menu since their October opening. But they're about to offer the Winter Aprés Ski Menu until their March 31 closing, which features all kinds of Swiss inspired goodness.
Your gondola experience includes a personal reservation, an attentive private server, a four course meal for each guest, and some Swiss chocolates for the road.
As you can imagine, the experience is not cheap. It will set you back $400 for four guests, or $600 for six guests, plus a 20% gratuity and taxes. That being said, during a time when we're being encouraged not to travel or get out much, this just might be worth the splurge -- especially when you're enjoying quality time with your special someone and a few close friends.
Gondolas at the Fondue Village are available by reservation only.
Booking online is easy, and you can relax knowing that the team here follows all regulations and protocols to help keep their guests safe and healthy.
Have you ever enjoyed this elegant experience? Perhaps it's time to treat yourself.
