This Train Car In Rhode Island Is Actually A Restaurant And You Need To Visit
Dashing Dan's Clam Car in Portsmouth offers a unique dining experience inside a vintage 1950's train car with a menu featuring both breakfast and lunch options.
We know Rhode Island has lots of fantastic food, but sometimes you're not just looking for a great meal, you want an intriguing setting to go along with it. Well we believe we've found just that with this funky little clam shack inside of an old train car.
Dashing Dan's Clam Car is practically brand new, so make sure you fit in a visit before word gets out and this classic style clam shack is packed with excited patrons every day.
This clam car serves right out of a vintage 1950's train car located on Melville Marina in Portsmouth.
This train car was built for use on the Long Island Railroad and was in service for multiple decades, there is so much history in this little clam car!
Right now Dan's is only open for takeout because it's so new they don't even have the bathrooms built yet! Which means you're getting a real lead on something special.
We are excited for when Dan's opens for full service though! With space for 26, it's perfect for throwing an intimate party or just having a nice sit down meal with your loved ones. The design really fits with the era of the train car itself.
The menu is packed with both breakfast and lunch options, from classic clam shack fare like chowder and clam rolls to diner foods like sandwiches and burgers.
Leave some room for dessert though, because Dan's is serving up multiple flavors of Gifford's ice cream (made nearby in Maine,) that change regularly.
