Look for the Irish flag, and you'll know you've arrived at McBride's Irish Pub in Providence, a lively spot that features both indoor and outdoor seating. The building that houses this Irish pub was once a nine-car garage for a funeral home. The garage became obsolete over time, so brothers Mark and Bob Russell, who had visited an Irish pub called McBride's in Ireland, were inspired to turn their garage into one. The idea eventually became a reality, and when you visit, look at the wall to see photos of the original McBride's pub.
When you come to McBride's Pub in Providence, an outdoor seat is definitely the way to go on a sunny Rhode Island day, especially if there's live music on the schedule. However, if you really want to soak up the cozy yet festive ambiance of an authentic Irish pub, head indoors and grab a seat at the bar or one of the tables.
Sip a tall glass of Guinness as you browse the menu that's chock-full of Irish pub food, from Irish nachos to Galway Shepherd's Pie, bangers and mash, fish n' chips, corned beef and cabbage, and more. Oftentimes, the best way to get a taste of the Emerald Isle is with a hearty helping of fish and chips... so, close your eyes when you take a bite, and you'll swear you're in a pub in Dublin. Oh, but the goodness doesn't stop there. Bangers and mash, corned beef & cabbage, and chicken pot pie are all on the menu.
If you're craving American favorites, you'll find plenty, from white clam chowder, grilled salmon, and turkey wraps to juicy burgers and pizza. Or hit the spot with one of the sandwiches— broccoli Reuben, fried haddock, or grilled chicken—that comes with pub fries.
