You’ll Want To Spend More Time In These 12 Outstanding Breweries In Portland
Beer culture is big in Portland, and there are enough breweries to make it so. With artisan beer flowing from taps all around town, there is no reason not to indulge in our city's prized export every once in awhile. If you are headed out for a beer, check out one of these 12 best breweries around town to try something great.
1. Breakside Brewery
Opened in 2010, Breakside has garnered a lot of industry attention in a short period of time for its award-winning beers. Winning a Gold Medal for best American-style IPA in the Great American Beer Festival means that you at least need to go try their amazing IPA, if you haven't already. Breakside Brewery is located at 820 NE Dekum Street.
2. Hopworks Urban Brewery
This 20-barrel brewery is notable at Portland's first Eco-Brewpub. Featuring 15 brews and 2 ciders, HUB has two Portland locations, and is served on tap at many bars around town. Hopworks Urban Brewery is located at 2944 SE Powell Street and Hopworks BikeBar is located at 3947 N Williams.
3. Coalition Brewing
Recently moved across the street from its flagship location, this is one great brewery with even better beer. Coalition Brewing is located at 2705 SE Ankeny.
4. Cascade Brewing
Growing since its inception in 1998, Cascade is a well-known force in the sour beer movement and a must-visit if you like fruit-forward sour beers. Cascade Brewing is located at 939 SE Belmont.
5. Culmination Brewing
Voted Best New Brewery in 2016 by the Oregon Beer Awards, Culmination is a great place to check out for IPAs, ales and sour beer. Culmination Brewing is located at 2117 NE Oregon Street.
6. Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House
While the main brewery is in Bend, Deschutes Brewery's Portland Public House offers the same delicious beers and food at its Pearl location. With 26 taps featuring the company's mainstay beers along with Portland-brewed specialties, you are sure to find something you like here. Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House is located at 210 NW 11th Street.
7. The Commons Brewery
Using Northwest-grown ingredients with European brewing traditions, this small artisan brewery puts forth 13 taps of great beer. The Commons Brewery is located at 630 SE Belmont.
8. Upright Brewing
This small craft brewery features French and Belgian farmhouse beers and has many small-batch seasonal offerings that are worth a try. Upright Brewing is located at 240 N Broadway Suite 002.
9. Lucky Labrador Brew Pub
Touting its lack of pretentiousness, video poker and pool tables, this no-nonsense brew pub focuses on food and beer and does a good job of it. Lucky Labrador Brew Pub is located at 915 SE Hawthorne.
10. Widmer Brothers Brewery and Pub
Widmer Brothers is a Portland institution that has grown steadily since its start in 1984. Today, the brewery serves up some great food and beer, and offers daily tours of its brewery. Widmer Brothers Brewery and Pub is located at 924 N Russell Street.
