Bar Food Is Taken To A Whole New Level At This Local Tavern In Oregon

Bars in Oregon typically have food on the menu but the offerings aren't always very memorable. However, increasingly, upscale taverns are emerging that have top-notch local brews — and outstanding food. Case in point, my new favorite spot for drinks and dinner: Portland's Grand Fir Brewing.

This inviting, sleek brewpub takes bar food to a whole new level. Grand Fir Brewing's appeal can be summed up this way: fresh ingredients, creative, expertly prepared dishes, and a changing menu that keeps getting better and better.

Run by owners brewmaster Whitney Burnside and chef Doug Adams, Grand Fir Brewing offers fabulous eats, alongside expertly brewed beers and craft cocktails. Its food is deliciously simple with a twist and just done right.  Essentially, the menu is elevated from typical bar food because of the care put into the flavors, paring of ingredients, preparation, presentation, and service. Plus, the beers and cocktails are out of this world, too.

On the menu, you'll find a range of salads, sandwiches, wings, burgers, smoked chicken, and specials like Frito pie and a caprese chicken sandwich. There are plenty of vegetarian options, as well as a kids' menu that is sure to keep even picky eaters very happy.

Located on the corner of SE Stark and SE 14th Avenue, this spot has a true Portland vibe and is sure to delight visitors and locals alike.

There's plenty of seating on two floors, including at the bar.

Try one of the numerous brewed on-site beers such as Ember, Foxglove, and Undergrowth.

Patrons line up at the bar to order drinks and food from friendly bar staff.

Grand Fir Brewing has beers available on tap.

The friendly space is a great place to hang out with family or friends.

Standouts from the kitchen include the Greek salad, fried chicken, and Oregon bay shrimp roll.

The brewery's burgers (which also include veggie burgers) don't disappoint, either.

The blue cheese wedge salad is very popular, as is the kale Caesar. Try the Oregon peach and tomato salad, too.

Grand Fir Brewery's fries are perfection, as well!

Whether you stop in for a quick bite before a show at nearby Revolution Hall or settle in for an evening with good friends, you can't go wrong with a meal at Grand Fir Brewing.
