Walleye fishing is a pretty big thing in North Dakota. Many of the state's lakes are teeming with the fish. It even has a town, Garrison, that claims to be the walleye capital with a rather large walleye statue to commemorate it. In addition to fishing for it, North Dakotans love to eat it. Whether it be breaded and fried or baked and sat atop a bed of wild rice, people here will always enjoy it.
Luckily for North Dakotans, there are plenty of restaurants serving it in the most delicious of ways. One restaurant chain only found in this state has some of the best - possibly in the world - and you must try it.
The Toasted Frog is a popular restaurant that quickly becomes the favorite of many in North Dakota. Don't let the unusual name ward you off!
It was founded in Grand Forks, North Dakota, but has since expanded to two other locations in Bismarck and Fargo.
Two of the things they are most famous for are their fried pickles and cheese dip - an appetizer that is an absolute must-have when you visit.
After that tasty appetizer, you can indulge yourself on one of their other most popular food items - the walleye.
These pieces of walleye are lightly dusted in flour and pan-fried, then topped with a tasty combination of shallots, capers, garlic, lemon juice, and butter.
Add on a couple of some of their scrumptious sides and you have yourself the perfect meal! And after you taste how good this walleye is, you'll be back for more in no time.
Each location is right in the heart of the city's downtown area, giving you a chance to see the historic part of town and enjoy great views like this one in Fargo. This is a must-try North Dakota destination!

124 N 3rd Street, Grand Forks, ND 58203
