Cayuga Lake is a popular destination for its scenic beauty and numerous wineries along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail.
In addition to its scenic beauty, Cayuga Lake is known for being surrounded by a wealth of wineries. The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, as it's known, has made the lake a destination not only for nature enthusiasts but for those looking for a weekend of fun at various wineries. Here are a few of our favorites.
1. Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery
Head to Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery for a relaxing day at one of the oldest wineries in the area. Sip on some award-winning wines and learn about how the Challen family created one of the most distinct wineries in the state.
2. Hosmer Winery
This winery's 72-acre estate is the home of the gorgeous Patrician Verona Vineyard. For $10, visitors get a flight of wines and a souvenir glass to take home. Grapes at this vineyard are comprised of Pino Noir, Cabernet Franc, Riesling and more.
3. Knapp Winery
If you're looking to taste some fine wines but enjoy a delicious meal as well, Knapp Winery is worth the trip. This winery that sits less than a mile from Cayuga Lake is open Thursday through Sunday.
4. Six Mile Creek Vineyard
Six Mile Creek Vineyard is coming off a victory in the 2019 New York Wine Classic, in which the vineyard won the Governors Cup, the competition's "Best of Show" award. They've been producing stellar wines for over 30 years and have a huge variety for wine-lovers to choose from.
5. Montezuma Winery
This Seneca Falls Winery has proven itself with plenty of awards over the years, and it's a gorgeous spot to visit. Wine tasting kits are $12 each, and groups can be a large as six people.
6. Goose Watch Winery
One of the few wineries in the area that is accessible by boat, Goose Watch is the serene environment ideal for sipping on fantastic wines and enjoying the landscape. The winery's beautiful tasting room is exactly the escape you're looking for on an upstate wine tour.
7. Lucas Vineyards
Lucas Wines has reopened for outdoor tasting flights, and visitors can enjoy everything from a glass of wine to wine slushies and snacks. This scenic winery is the perfect spot for a picnic.
