There’s Nothing Better Than A Meal From This Classic, Must-Visit Buffalo Eatery
Anderson's Frozen Custard in Buffalo offers a variety of homemade frozen treats and meals, making it a local favorite since 1947.
The summer is winding down and it's time to really start getting serious about the fact that... sigh... winter is coming. Get out there while you still can and hit every place that feels like it was made for summer... beaches, hikes, and most importantly - custard! It's hard to beat a frozen treat, but this sweet eatery serves up some marvelous - and so totally Buffalo - meals that you're going to want to gobble up.
Anderson's Frozen Custard has been delighting locals since 1947, but they've actually been in operation since 1946.
Children of Swedish immigrants, Carl and Greta Anderson, opened the first location in the Bronx. After feeling homesick for Buffalo, they returned to town to open what would become the city's best custard.
The first location opened on Kenmore Avenue, followed by an upgraded store on Sheridan Drive in 1953. Aside from the tasty food, there's some fascinating living history here, as you can still go visit the original drive-in location.
Today, there are six Anderson's locations, all serving their signature homemade custard.
In the '90s, they began serving their own handmade ice cream and hard frozen yogurts & sherbets.
And, of course, there's the all-natural beef on weck!
While the summer is still going, get a hearty serving of soft serve!
Get creative with toppings and take some to go.
Things move slower in the summer, making it possible to spend more time to sit down and enjoy an order of bacon cheese fries.
But, always, always get the weck!
On your way out the door, grab some homemade ice cream sandwiches to take home with you.
And maybe even a Strawberry Glacier Sundae!
If you can't make it to an actual location, look out for the Weck on Wheels, the official Anderson's food truck.
