The building itself dates to the 1840s, when it was a freight line and later became a major stop on the Butterfield Stagecoach Line in the 1860s.

When the restaurant opened in 1939, it occupied a building in a little corner of the building.

Eventually, it grew to acquire more space of the building, thus cementing its place as a landmark restaurant in the area.
