The further north you go in New Hampshire, the more remote and less-populated the state becomes. Busier towns are replaced by tiny villages and expansive stretches of forests, and you might think that finding good eats in this part of the state would be difficult. In the northernmost town of Pittsburg, however, there's one gas station and general store in New Hampshire where you can still find home-cooked comfort food.
Originally opened in 1955 by Mildred & Phillip Young, Young's General Store began in a rented cabin.
The store has continued to grow over the decades due a loyal customer following.
Those gas prices sure have changed though.
Young's has earned its motto, "We sell generally everything," by offering a very diverse selection of merchandise.
Young's also become known for its home-cooked meals, which are available on the premises or to go.
No matter if it's just you passing through Pittsburg or if the family is in tow, there's plenty of food here for all.
Classic pizzas are a staple of the Young's menu. Pizza specials are also available.
Tried and true classics like American Chop Suey are typical of Young's traditional meals.
This part of the state can be chilly a lot of the year and some piping hot Shepherd's Pie is the perfect food to warm up with.
As of this writing, Young's General Store doesn't have a website, but you can learn more about them as well as keep up with food specials by following Young's General Store on Facebook.
