The Sky High Restaurant In Nebraska That Lets You Dine Among The Trees

Dine among the treetops at Durham TreeTops Restaurant in Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, offering stunning views of the world's largest indoor rain forest.

Everyone knows about the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in Omaha, but did you know there's a restaurant where you can dine among the treetops of the world's largest indoor rain forest?

You'll see Durham TreeTops Restaurant shortly after passing through the zoo's main entrance.

If you arrive hungry, stop in for lunch right away. But we recommend walking around for a while first to build up an appetite.

If you're visiting in the summer, the restaurant will be a welcome air-conditioned reprieve from the infamous Nebraska heat and humidity.

The restaurant is cafeteria-style with different sections to peruse.

You can pick up a salad, cold sandwich, fruit cup, or other treat from the refrigerated cases, or visit the grill for a hot sandwich.

But the real star of this show is the stunning dining area. You'll seat yourself in the wide-open, airy, bright space.

Get there at a non-peak time if you want a front row seat at the giant windows overlooking the Lied Jungle.

And this is what you'll see from the TreeTops: a breathtaking view of the indoor rain forest.

If you're lucky you'll get to see some of the animals playing and walking around below. But even if they aren't cooperating, the plants and water are soothing and absolutely lovely.

You might find yourself distracted from your meal by the silly antics of the animals, like these brown handed gibbons in their tree right outside of the big window.
