The Unassuming Nebraska Restaurant That Serves The Best Seafood You’ve Ever Tried

We've heard it plenty of times before: you can't get great seafood in Nebraska. It seems to make sense since we are the most landlocked state in the nation. Shucks Fish House and Oyster Bar in Omaha is an offshoot of Absolutely Fresh Seafood. Absolutely Fresh may be the best-known fresh seafood supplier in the area.

Shucks has three locations: downtown at 19th & Leavenworth (pictured above), the Shops of Legacy at 168th & Center, and 119th & Pacific (where the Absolutely Fresh retail shop is located).

We're partial to the cozy, funky downtown restaurant, but you'll find incredible seafood at all three locations. The nautical and fish-themed decor will entertain you as you wait and prepare you for the feast you're about to enjoy.

Shucks promises a "good old-fashioned oyster bar," just like you'd find on the Gulf Coast or in New England. They don't disappoint.

Look at these oysters! They're shucked right in front of you, and once you taste them you'll swear you're dining right on the coast.

The menu contains a whole lot of creative dishes, all of which highlight the high-quality seafood Shucks and Absolutely Fresh are known for.

This is their twist on the classic cobb salad, featuring crab in place of the usual chicken.

This firecracker shrimp is an Asian-inspired delight with a spicy little kick.

Of course, it wouldn't be a seafood restaurant without a great clam chowder. This stuff is so delicious that you'll be licking the bowl when it's all gone.

Each location has a daily fresh fish special that's always amazing. You can also find seafood standbys like fried clams, calamari, shrimp or oyster po' boys, gumbo, and so much more.
