The Magnolia State is no stranger to great eateries. However, you might be surprised to learn that Mississippi is home to El Flamboyan, an incredible Puerto Rican restaurant. The quaint roadside grill may not look like much, but after one bite of the authentic fare, you won’t care about the surroundings since you’ll be transported straight to Puerto Rico. Take a look:

El Flamboyan is one of only a few Puerto Rican restaurants in Mississippi, and fittingly, it’s located in Ocean Springs, which has been revered for its impressive culinary scene.

Like the sign says, the eatery specializes in authentic Puerto Rican cuisine.

The charming roadside grill boasts a casual, laidback atmosphere – complete with festive music. As soon as you arrive, you’re sure to feel like you’re in Puerto Rico.

And if the surroundings don’t do it, the food will!

Just like the rest of the Caribbean Islands, Puerto Rico is known for its hearty, spicy food – and that’s exactly what you’ll find at El Flamboyan.

Rice and beans are staples in the Puerto Rican diet and incorporated into many of the eatery’s dishes.

Though not huge, the menu features an impressive variety, especially in the meat and seafood department. In addition to beef, chicken, and pork, there’s shrimp, steak, and red snapper.

There's no indoor dining at El Flamboyan, but there's plenty of seating outside. Of course, you can always take your food to-go.

Despite having only been in business since 2019, El Flamboyan has already received lots of rave reviews on TripAdvisor and Google. And that's in addition to the Sun Herald deeming the food "exceptional."
