Located just outside of Columbus, Proffitt’s Porch has been wowing diners with its New Orleans-inspired fare and idyllic waterfront setting since 1985.

Pretty remote, it’s not the kind of place you just stumble upon, which makes the fact that its parking lot is almost always full especially impressive.

One visit and you’ll understand what all the hype is about. Surrounded by lush forests and overlooking Officer’s Lake, the setting couldn’t be any more peaceful.

The food is just as good – if not better – than the setting.

Proffitt’s Porch is known for its flavorful regional fare, serving up local favorites, like red beans and rice and seafood gumbo.

The menu also features soups, salads, and New Orleans-style sandwiches.

That’s not all, though. There are homemade desserts, too, and according to patrons, the chocolate chess pie is a must-try.

Whatever you order, it’d be in your best interest to enjoy it on the eatery’s elevated back porch.

Offering a great view of Officer’s Lake, the spacious porch led to Proffitt’s Porch being voted the state’s “Best Outdoor Dining” experience by Mississippi Magazine.

Not surprisingly, the porch gets crowded, especially when it’s nice out.
