There are lots of reasons to visit the Mississippi Coast. And while beachfront views and cool coastal breezes rank pretty high up there, nothing beats the fresh seafood served in the region’s restaurants. The options are plentiful. But if you’re looking for the best of the best, you can’t go wrong with one of the following Mississippi coast seafood restaurants – all of which are worth a visit from any part of the state.
1. Bozo’s Seafood Market (Pascagoula)
A Pascagoula staple, Bozo’s is a fish market and lunch counter in one. In the 60+ years it’s been open, it’s become known for its fresh crawfish, seafood dishes, and po’ boys, which, according to some, are the state’s best.
2. Trapani’s Eatery (Bay St. Louis)
Great views and even better food await at Trapani’s Eatery. The 2-story beachfront café is known for its New Orleans-inspired seafood dishes – but that’s not its only claim to fame. It’s also touted as one of Jimmy Buffet’s favorite Gulf Coast bars.
3. Mary Mahoney’s (Biloxi)
Mary Mahoney’s has been tantalizing the taste buds of presidents, celebrities, and thousands of others for over 50 years. The menu is mostly seafood, but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in variety. Indulge your seafood craving with everything from "world famous" seafood gumbo to signature seafood dishes.
4. Dempsey’s Seafood and Steak (Kiln)
Despite a rural locale, diners from all over the state trek to Dempsey’s for its hearty portions, perfectly fried seafood, and famous macaroni and cheese.
5. Anthony’s Under The Oaks (Ocean Springs)
If dining underneath centuries-old oaks that overlook the waterfront sounds like your idea of a good time, you won’t be disappointed with a visit to Anthony’s Under The Oaks. The setting is only outshined by the fare, which includes all sorts of seafood dishes – from signature creations to quintessential classics, like crab cakes.
6. Jourdan River Steamer (Kiln)
You won’t find any fried seafood here. But you will find fresh fish, charbroiled oysters, and steamed lobster, crabs, shrimp, and more.
7. Taranto’s (Biloxi)
Modest in appearance and a bit off the beaten path, Taranto’s may just be one of the Gulf Coast’s best kept secrets – and it’s a secret you’ll want to be in on, as the no-frills eatery doles out boiled crawfish and seafood, overstuffed po’ boys, gumbo, and more.
