Dine Under Gargantuan Trees In Mississippi When You Visit Aunt Jenny’s Catfish Restaurant
Aunt Jenny’s Catfish Restaurant offers southern-inspired fare in a historic antebellum home surrounded by 500-year-old oak trees.
Lots of restaurants boast scenic settings, but none quite compare to Aunt Jenny’s Catfish Restaurant. Not only is it housed in a former antebellum home, but it’s nestled under giant, 500-year-old oak trees.
Hiding in plain sight, Aunt Jenny’s Catfish Restaurant is nestled just off the beaten path in Ocean Springs.
Opened in 1981, it’s a true Gulf Coast staple that’s known as much for its idyllic setting as its tasty southern fare.
Beautiful inside and out, the restaurant is surrounded by towering oaks that are hundreds of years old. What’s more, the property overlooks Fort Bayou.
The building that the restaurant occupies is just as lovely as the grounds. Built in the 1800s, it originally served as a residence.
And while the setting is amazing, it’s the southern-inspired fare that brings patrons to Aunt Jenny’s.
Though not too varied, the menu features plenty of tasty choices, including “all you care to eat” hand-fed catfish filets, fried chicken, and golden fried shrimp.
Even better, every meal comes with a great view, thanks to an abundance of large windows in the dining room.
But Aunt Jenny’s isn’t just a great place to eat.
With an on-site gift store, it’s also a great place to shop. Chickadee Nest Gift Shop is located in the restaurant’s lobby and carries party supplies, candles, handmade pottery, and more.
