You’ll Be Transported To A Bavarian Beer Hall At This Top-Rated Restaurant In Minnesota
Just outside the delightful town of Stillwater, you’ll find Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter. This top-rated German restaurant in Minnesota has been going strong for more than half a century, enticing folks to eat schnitzel, drink bier, and call out “Prosit!” whenever it feels right. In fact, a visit to the Gasthaus feels a lot like stepping into a Bavarian beer hall.
A German immigrant family built Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter in a pine forest outside Stillwater, Minnesota, and opened its doors to the public in 1966.
The Gasthaus has been a local and regional favorite that has remained true to its German roots - while winning the hearts and stomachs of loyal customers - ever since.
The interior of the Gasthaus is designed in the style of a traditional Bavarian hunting lodge.
You’ll see authentic German décor, art, and collectibles side by side with plenty of antlers and taxidermy. Think of it as Teutonic-eclectic.
A glance at the menu, or at the plates in the dining room reveals the Gasthaus’s adherence to the traditional flavors of the Old Country.
You’ll find schnitzel, sauerbraten, dumplings, sauerkraut, and spätzel, along with other traditional dishes.
Don’t worry - there’s all sorts of sausage to cater to your wurst tendencies.
In warmer months, the Beiergarten is the place to be.
There’s an outside bar, plenty of live music, and always a fun crowd. You could do much worse than a summer Saturday at the Beiergarten.
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter hosts one of the biggest - and my personal favorite - Oktoberfest celebrations in the Twin Cities metro.
Late September and early October is hopping at the Gasthaus!
And dressing in traditional Bavarian garb isn’t limited to employees and Oktoberfest guests at Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter.
Folks who show up in their trachten get a discount any time of year (some restrictions apply). So, dust off your dirndls, press your lederhosen, and shine your favorite stein - it’s time to head to the Gasthaus!
Don’t have your own tracht? No worries - you can pick one up on Etsy. And with enough visits to the Gasthaus, it’ll pay for itself! Learn more about Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter at its website, or visit the restaurant’s Facebook page for photos and updates. If you’re not in a German mood when you’re in the Stillwater area, you can be Swiss for a day and eat fondue in a room that resembles a cuckoo clock.
