This Historic Family-Owned Restaurant In Michigan Will Serve You The Most Delicious Meal Of Your Life
Amore da Roma, Michigan's oldest family-owned restaurant, offers an unforgettable Italian dining experience with a rich history dating back to 1888.
Michigan is lucky to have several restaurants that have withstood the test of time, and it's a testament to the dedication of the families behind the scenes who work hard to serve you an incredible meal in an unforgettable setting. So often, these restaurants are passed down from generation to generation, with each new generation learning the tricks of the family business while adding their own little touches here and there. There's one particular family-owned restaurant in Michigan that's a bit of a local legend, and it's worth a road trip from any corner of the state.
Before Amore da Roma, there was the Roma Cafe, which was opened by the Marazza family in 1888.
In its first two years, it served the local vendors and farmers of Eastern Market before becoming the Roma Café in 1890.
Michigan’s oldest restaurant was purchased by a new family in 1918.
It ran for nearly a century before a new owner took over in 2017, this time with a new name, Amore da Roma. Don't worry, it's still considered a family-run restaurant and many of the same menu items remain unchanged.
When it comes to authentic cuisine, there’s just no better place to be.
And if Italian food is among your faves, you're in for a special treat!
A meal at Amore da Roma is an experience.
Go ahead and order a few appetizers while you peruse the phenomenal wine selection.
Both the lunch and dinner menus feature a variety of pasta dishes, many of which are made with house-made noodles.
Dining in Michigan just doesn’t get much better than this!
Of course, you may be tempted to indulge in a nice, juicy steak.
If you've been to any steakhouses in Michigan, we think you'll agree that you can’t go wrong with the filet mignon here. It’s a fan favorite!
And no Italian meal is complete without a cannoli or two.
A meal like this deserves to end on a sweet note with a great Italian dessert!
