Are you looking for a fun-filled place to unwind when temperatures rise? There are loads of unique bars, eateries, and other attractions that make for warm-weather delight in the Great Lakes State, but one such destination stands out above the rest for its charming location, an awesome array of food and beverages, and more. You’ll want to visit this floating restaurant in Michigan the next time you’re ready to relax. Welcome to Idler Riverboat & Dockside in Michigan.
The Idler Riverboat & Dockside is located along Williams Street in the waterfront town of South Haven.
If you’ve yet to explore this community along the shores of Lake Michigan, you’re certainly missing out. With beachfront beauty, charming shops, and loads of small-town charm, there’s something for everyone here.
One of the most unique destinations in South Haven is the Idler Riverboat, which is just what it sounds like a riverboat on the Black River that’s been converted into a welcoming restaurant, bar, and local hangout spot.
The Idler itself was originally built all the way back in 1897. Throughout the generations, she made journeys to and from New Orleans and even made an appearance at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, Missouri.
Following a fire, a renovation, and several more decades, the Idler was eventually purchased by the Nichols family, who molded her into the floating eatery and bar visitors now call one of the best South Haven restaurants on the water.
When you visit, you’ll find loads of historic charm and timeless touches. When temperatures are balmy, nothing beats taking a seat on the riverboat’s top deck area, which offers waterfront breezes galore.
The drinks here are decidedly refreshing and delicious, ranging from mules to cocktails to playful shots and mojitos. Round out your beverages with a burger, shrimp tacos, a fresh salad, or a flavorful cajun dog.
No matter what you order or how many times you’ve dropped by, the Idler Riverboat will provide you with a one-of-a-kind experience. This unforgettable bar and restaurant is the place to be when summer arrives.
