If you've lived in Boston for any amount of time and have yet to have a sandwich from Sam LaGrassa's, you're missing out. This sandwich shop and deli started in 1968 by a true Bostonian and it's become a sandwich institution in the city. Many of these shops' sandwiches have become famous and featured on many T.V. shows, and have won many awards. If you only order one sandwich in your lifetime, let it be the Famous Rumanian Pastrami. At the end of the day, all Bay Staters are well aware that Sam LaGrassa's serves up the best sandwiches in Massachusetts, and it's time that you step up to the counter and get a taste for yourself.
Welcome to Sam LaGrassa's!
As the name suggests, this sandwich shop was opened by Sam LaGrassa in 1968.
Being born and raised in Boston, it's only fitting that Sam would open a deli right here in Boston. After working in restaurants throughout the city, he decided to open his own deli, and with the help of his family, the shop has been running for over 50 years.
The restaurant is a counter-style restaurant, so step up and place your order.
Once you choose one of Sam LaGrassa's 35 different sandwich choices, you can head over to the communal table and take a seat. This local spot does get quite busy, so if it's lunchtime you may want to take your sandwich to-go and head over to Boston Commons to enjoy your meal.
There are dozens and dozens of sandwich options here, and all are made with only the best ingredients.
All of the meats and breads you see behind the counter are made fresh, and kept up to standards. There's a reason this restaurant has been featured on many shows and won awards, and it's because Sam LaGrassa's makes sure every sandwich is perfect.
One sandwich, however, is the most popular sandwich in town: the Famous Rumanian Pastrami.
Even if you've never been to Sam LaGrassa's, you may have heard of their Famous Rumanian Pastrami. They're best known for this dry-cured, smoked beef sandwich. Once you try this pastrami, everything else will pale in comparison.
No matter what kind of sandwich you're craving, there's something unforgettable here for everyone.
While the meats at Sam's are definitely the spotlight of the shop, they also have many vegetarian sandwiches, as well as delicious soups and salads.
If you're craving a sandwich in Massachusetts, look no further than Sam LaGrassa's. You'll become a fan for life.
