Once Abandoned And Left To Decay, Stone’s Public House In Massachusetts Has Been Restored To Its Former Glory

There are numerous abandoned places in Massachusetts. With hundreds of years of history, not every single building and structure can be saved and restored. Many are left decaying as nature reclaims the land they were built on. And then there are a few places, like Stone's Public House in Massachusetts, that were once abandoned but have since been restored to their former glory.

Originally called the Railroad House, what is now Stone's Public House was built in the 1830s in present-day Ashland (then Unionionville) by John Stone. He was a businessman who owned plenty of property around town.

Stone built the Railroad House when he heard that a railroad would be built there. And it was built next to the tracks. It opened for business in 1834.

Stone ran the hotel for two years before allowing other innkeepers to lease it. In 1868, it was purchased by W.A. Scott. Over the years, the building fell into decay and disrepair.

In 1986, a man by the name of Leonard "Cappy" Fournier bought the building and restored it to its former glory. It is now an Irish-American gastropub.

Come to the rustic Stone's Public house to drink and dine in its historically charming ambiance. You can certainly marvel at how this building is nearly 200 years old.
