This Restaurant Arguably Has the Best Breakfast Burrito in Massachusetts

Craving a warm, delicious breakfast burrito right about now? The Friendly Toast has you covered with three different options and yummy cocktails galore.

Brunch is undoubtedly my favorite meal of the day, but nailing down a favorite breakfast food is always a difficult decision. From pancakes to omelets to waffles, it is so hard to just pick one. And there is another brunch item that is not as commonly available but equally as delicious: the scrumptious breakfast burrito. This stick-to-your-bones menu choice is growing in popularity and can now be found at many diners and restaurants throughout the state. However, if you are looking for the best breakfast burrito in Massachusetts, I suggest that you head directly to The Friendly Toast and try one of their best-selling items. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

I was in complete amazement the first time that I stepped into the original Friendly Toast restaurant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The restaurant may be modern, but nostalgic vibes run strong here. With walls covered in vintage signs, eclectic memorabilia, and old photographs, there are interesting things to study at every turn. The Friendly Toast has since expanded its footprint and now has several locations throughout New England, including one at Legacy Place in Dedham, Massachusetts. All of the restaurants are decorated with funky decor and unique displays.

Each location serves an outstanding all-day brunch. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but for me, the stand-out item is the breakfast burrito. There are three different types to choose from. The original breakfast burrito (my favorite) is overflowing with black beans, scrambled eggs, poblano corn, chipotle sauce, and pico de gallo. Or you can opt for Meg's American Burrito, made up of scrambled eggs, bacon, American cheese, and topped with everything bagel aioli. Both burritos are rolled into flour tortillas and come with a side of unforgettable jumbo cheddar tater tots. A third option is the Vegan Breakfast Burrito, which is wrapped in a gluten-free tortilla and is filled with vegan sausage, vegan cheese, tofu, black beans, corn, and avocado.

While the breakfast burritos are my Friendly Toast go-to, there is much more to enjoy at this popular eatery. The menu is extensive and includes just about every brunch item that you can think of. The Benedicts, chicken and waffles, and pancakes are always popular choices, and the restaurant also serves excellent sandwiches, bowls, and burgers.

And a delicious breakfast burrito wouldn’t be complete without a refreshing beverage to wash it down. Well, you are definitely in the right place. Not only does The Friendly Toast turn out some great meals, but they also have a fantastic bar menu featuring mimosas, award-winning Bloody Marys, mocktails, and draft beer. If you have trouble deciding which one to order, don’t worry, you can always order a flight and sample a variety of drinks.

Have you visited The Friendly Toast? Did you order the breakfast burrito, or do you have another favorite brunch item? You can view all of the fabulous food choices and make a reservation (I highly suggest doing so) at The Friendly Toast website. The Friendly Toast Facebook page also has all of the latest info on specials and events. For more memorable brunch spots in Massachusetts, I recommend visiting In A Pickle in Waltham and The Farmer's Daughter in Easton.
