Enjoy Beautiful Views And Historic Charm With Us At The 1761 Old Mill Restaurant In Massachusetts

If you know me, you understand that I am a sucker for historic restaurants. Give me great food with a slice of history and I am a happy soul. Places like the Stagecoach Tavern in Sheffield and the Red Lion Tavern in Cohasset top my list of places to eat. The 1761 Old Mill in Westminster is another historic eatery that has been on my bucket list for a while, and I am glad to report that I finally got to visit! The beautiful setting, historic charm, and fantastic fare made this rustic restaurant an absolute winner in my book.

The 1761 Old Mill has been a dining establishment for over 100 years. The property was originally the site of a working sawmill and was later converted into a summer tea room. It has been a popular full-service, family-run restaurant since 1946.

I had always heard great things about this historic restaurant, but never had a chance to visit until recently. When a trip to Wachusett Mountain presented itself a few months ago, I knew I had to work in a stop at the nearby Old Mill.

After a busy morning on the slopes, my family was ready for a hearty meal. It was just a short drive from the mountain to the Old Mill.

We parked at the ample lot across the street and walked through a covered bridge on a path that led to the restaurant's entrance. As I surveyed the cascading waterfall, log fences, and lovely pond, I fell in love with the place on the spot.

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm fire and a delicious aroma. A waitress led us to a table on the enclosed porch overlooking the pond. When we asked if we could switch our seats to get a better view of the water, she gladly accommodated our request and seated us next to the windows.

We perused the menu and watched the ducks, geese, and other birds swim outside. My son completed a coloring sheet and we talked about our morning. We were delighted when our waitress brought over some warm corn fritters and pecan rolls, which were included with our entrees. They were absolutely delicious!

After we ordered our food, I took time to explore the restaurant. The whole building is full of antique touches and tons of rustic charm.

I discovered a large banquet facility area that is often used for weddings, as well as a cozy downstairs pub area. A cute little gift area in the lobby was stocked with candy, Christmas ornaments, and other fun trinkets.

I headed back to the table and enjoyed a delicious meal full of comfort food and classic American dishes. My family thoroughly enjoyed the clam chowder, burgers, and pork chops.

With full stomachs, we set out for the trip back home. However, we couldn't leave without stopping to visit with the ducks. Our waitress even brought over some birdseed so the kids could feed to our new feathered friends!
