1. Last week's (or last year's) newspaper sprawled across the table.
2. A knife for picking meat, and a mallet for cracking claws (although most Marylanders don't need no stinkin' mallet).
3. Corn on the cob, preferably smothered in Old Bay.
4. Beer - and keep it flowing!
5. Or an orange crush, for those of us who prefer our beverages fruity.
6. Discarded side dishes, because everyone's too busy eating crabs to care about Aunt Joy's potato salad.
7. A giant roll of paper towels...
8. Or some old wet-naps if you're feelin' fancy.
9. Or just wipe your hands on your shirt and pronounce it shall henceforth be known as your crab feastin' shirt.
10. Perhaps your guests prefer dipping their crab meat in melted butter...
11. Or vinegar.
12. And oh yeah... don't forget the crabs. The sinfully delicious, mouthwatering, can't get enough of 'em crabs.
Okay, now I'm hungry. Be sure to also check out 16 thoughts every Marylander has when picking crabs. There's no better way to celebrate summer in Maryland than with crab meat in your tummy and Old Bay on your lips.
