You Better Come Hungry To Load Up On The Empanadas At Quiero Cafe In Maine

We've had a lot of meals in a lot of different states, but no matter what we eat we're always partial to the options in Maine. Particularly the newest things that seem to pop up every month. One of our favorite additions to the scene is the place we're spotlighting today. While they may be known for their seriously delicious Cuban sandwich, we've got our sights set on the empanadas!

Quiero Cafe has locations in both Saco and Portland and we love them both for a variety of reasons.

The Portland location opened in the spring of 2019, offering an airy space with lots of seating. Sure, we love this. But we're not tempted to visit every day for the airy space...

It's the Latinamerican bites that has us psyched to stop by whenever we can.

The full menu features a plethora of dining options, including favorites like Cubanos, Arepas, Tostones and chips.

And their drink and dessert menu means you can have a full mean that includes a cafe con leche, chicken tamale, and their sweet-as-can-be churros.

And while we love doing that, we're always tempted by the thought of their easy-to-grab empanadas.

Made in over ten different flavors, including queso, tomate, pollo, and chorizo, each one has a signature flavor that's irresistible.

They're small enough to get away with ordering one as a side.

But delicious enough to get a few and call it a meal.

The freshness of ingredients and the stamp on the outside make it clear that attention to detail is important. And that's why this might be our new favorite daytime lunch spot!

Quiero Cafe in Portland is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Saco location is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can learn more about them on their website or follow them on Facebook.
