When you don’t have the time to fire up the kitchen, you can always turn to Orlandeaux’s Cafe, a homey little joint up in Shreveport with a menu full of all your favorite Southern and Cajun dishes. Fair warning: you better come hungry!

If you’ve spent any time in the northwestern portion of the state, you may remember Orlandeaux’s Cafe under a different name.

This timeless treasure has been in operation since 1921, making it the oldest continuously operated African American family-owned restaurant in the country. With every generation that takes over, a new name comes into play. You may remember the restaurant under Freeman & Harris Cafe, Pete Harris Cafe, or Brother’s Seafood.

No matter what you call it, you’ll always feel at home in this cozy space.

No frills, all-flavor here… just like your Mama’s house.

The menu features a wide array of Creole, Cajun, and Southern cuisine that will have your mouth watering.

From gumbo to peach cobbler, you’ll find all your favorites here.

Speaking of gumbo, Orlandeaux's has some of the best, so be sure to start off your meal with a bowl (or two).

Shrimp, chicken, sausage, and crab dance in a dark roux for a gumbo so good you'll want to buy it by the gallon to take home.

Fried seafood lovers will be on cloud nine with the options here.

The fried oysters, in particular, are sinfully delicious!

One of the most popular dishes on the menu is the stuffed shrimp.

You'll want to get a plate of these for the table, that's for sure.

There's one rule when it comes to dining at Orlandeaux's: come hungry!

The portions are very generous. You'll easily be taking home leftovers to snack on later!

Orlandeaux's Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner six days a week.

Swing through and take a bite out of Louisiana!
