Canoe & Trail Adventures offers several different types of rentals for you to experience the river, and they conveniently launch right behind one of the most delicious restaurants in Covington, The Chimes. The Chimes is one of those timeless, family-friendly restaurants with a menu that caters to just about everyone.

The original location in Baton Rouge opened over 25 years ago and the business has expanded to include a second location in Baton Rouge and now a third in Covington.

The Covington location has a beautifully rustic deck overlooking the Bogue Falaya River.

You’ll be surrounded by a sea of emerald greens and you may even spot a goat or two. These friendly little creatures help keep the lawn in check.

The menu covers just about everything you could imagine.

Burgers, po’boys, and several grill options all pepper the menu. This is also a great spot for beer lovers, but we'll get to that later.

You’ll walk down the boardwalk to the river, where you’ll meet up with the folks at Canoe & Trail Adventures.

Canoe & Trail Adventures offers several different types of rentals, including solo and tandem kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards.

Rentals range from 1-5 hours long, depending on your schedule.

The most popular option is two hours, which is plenty of time to paddle down the river and see the sights.

There are plenty of sand banks to pull over and splash around.

Just remember to keep an eye on the time, because you'll need to return to the launch site before your rental time is up. Luckily, the river doesn't have much of a current, so you'll be able to paddle either direction easily.

After your paddling excursion, head back into The Chimes to treat yourself to a nice cold beverage.
