This Restaurant In A Former Kansas Church Offers An Unforgettable Dining Experience
Chef Stan’s Place in Strong City, Kansas, is a restaurant located in a repurposed church offering scenic views and made-from-scratch food.
It's so fascinating to see older buildings turned into new businesses. It's the ultimate feat of recycling to take an abandoned place that once served one purpose and see it turned into a restaurant, store, or housing. One spot in Kansas that is finding new life as a restaurant is an old church in Strong City. Tucked away in the scenic Flint Hills, this small city's population is only around 500, but many are drawn to the area for its rural beauty and tranquil surroundings. And if you're looking for the perfect place to enjoy a meal and said tranquil surroundings? Look no further, Chef Stan's Place is just the place.
The Chef Stan who owns this place is Stan Lerner. He also owns the highly-rated Chef's Table in Winfield.
The restaurant is also nicknamed "The Little Restaurant on the Prairie." It was always Lerner's dream to open a restaurant in such a remote location where the natural beauty of the Kansas plains could add to the dining experience.
The views are amazing. There's a long communal table, plus several smaller private ones if you'd prefer to dine separately.
With no televisions or loud decor to distract you, you can focus entirely on the made-from-scratch food and the Kansas prairie views.
The biscuits and gravy are heavenly. The recipe was specially made for Chef's Stan Place.
Chef's Stan's Place currently has limited hours of operation several days a week.
