The One City In Kansas Wine Lovers Absolutely Must Visit This Spring
Lawrence, Kansas offers a variety of restaurants and shops perfect for wine lovers.
Kansas has a lot of farmland, but do you know how much of that is vineyards? We've got our fair share of wine lovers in the Sunflower State, believe it or not. You don't have to hide it from us if you're all about that special fruit juice. Kansas has a lot of wineries here and there, and it's not surprising that some of our favorite restaurants also serve a fresh glass with much of their food. Lawrence, Kansas is perfect for any wine lover, no matter which place (or places) you visit on your next trip. Let's take a look — and a sip!
1. 715 Restaurant
715 is a stunning restaurant, whether you're judging the appearance of the building or the food. However, every meal is best paired with a glass of wine, matched perfectly with your order.
2. Mass St. Fish House & Raw Bar
If you're dining on fresh fish and seafood, you'll want a glass of white wine, which this restaurant knows well. However, if you're a stickler for red, they won't deny you a glass. More wines to try, after all!
3. Merchants Pub & Plate
Merchants is another spot that's well versed in wine, which pairs easily with their farm-to-table food. They pick their wines from anywhere, as far as Lebanon or as close as right here in Kansas. They have regular wines and adventurous wines, but it's up to you what to choose.
4. Decade
Decade is a little cafe that serves top-notch espresso, but they also serve "biodynamic wine" which is produced differently than your average wines.
5. Bon Bon
Bon Bon is a great spot for cocktails and wine, and a good time out with friends. Their food is light and well put together, and is a great spot for another snack with a glass if you plan on visiting all of these locations.
6. On The Rocks
Of course, if you'd rather buy a few bottles of what you've tasted and travel elsewhere to enjoy them, you'll have to stop by this shop in town. On The Rocks provides discount liquor and a place to bring home scrumptious bottles.
7. Cork & Barrel
Cork & Barrel is another spot to grab a few bottles before you go. Their wine selection is pretty huge, so make sure to write down all of your favorites from the restaurants and see if you can find them here.
8. City Wine Market
If Cork & Barrel isn't your glass of wine, then you can still check out City Wine Market, to find even more bottles to take home with you. Save them for a rainy day, or when you go out camping!
If you prefer to enjoy your wine somewhere other than a place full of people, then you should check out these state parks perfect for a weekend of relaxation — and wine.
