Originally opened during the 1940s as a soda fountain serving up shakes, malts, floats and sodas, the South Side Soda Shop underwent remodeling in the mid-1980s and reopened in 1986 as the local favorite it is today.
Since 1986, the Boyd family has been running this little Hoosier State classic and doing it wonderfully.
It's definitely one of the best family-owned, old-school shops in the Midwest; we're not sure what it is about mom-and-pop types of places, but they really do hold a special place in our hearts.
