Schwartz Family Restaurant has been a wonderful local staple since 2009.

It is the very definition of family-owned, and perhaps best of all, it's very proudly Amish - so you know everything is going to be amazing.

For the most part, it's cafeteria-style, though there are occasional exceptions.

Every single thing on the menu, from the noodles to the fried chicken, barbecue, casseroles and more, is made from scratch. This is amazingly unique, as you just don't find restaurants that still do this very often anymore. But hey, you never know what you'll find in the backcountry.

Many of the items are also grown fresh from the Schwartz family farm, and it absolutely shows. The freshness is unmatched.

When we say this spot is worth driving for, we mean it. The portions are gigantic and everything is delicious.

The service is wonderful and the whole place feels like home.

Eckerty isn't a huge town; in fact, it's not a town at all.

It's actually an unincorporated community hidden in southern Indiana.
