Home Of The 3-Pound Taco, Los Alfaro’s In Indiana Shouldn’t Be Passed Up

Los Alfaro's in Evansville, Indiana, offers legendary oversized tacos and a variety of Latin American dishes.

Okay, okay, okay! So, Indiana isn't exactly a place where most folks would think, "Wow, I bet I can score some amazing Mexican food there!" or "I bet Indiana has some awesome places to pick up some Peruvian green spaghetti!" But, believe it or not, Indiana does have somewhere where you can find those things, and then some. Plus, Los Alfaro's is absolutely legendary not just for its exceptional menu filled with many Latin American dishes, but for the best tacos in Indiana - some of which happen to weigh in at a whopping three pounds.

You read that correctly. No need to wipe your eyes: you're really seeing that taco.

These things aren't just incredibly massive. They're absolutely delicious. Taco Tuesday - or any other day - will never be the same.

The crispy, crunchy, perfectly-molded shells are fried up in-house on an enormous custom-made metal form.

The form was created by one of the owners, a welder, specifically for the purpose of creating the world's biggest (and most delicious) taco.

The crunchy perfection that is the Los Alfaro's legendary taco isn't even the only oversized item on the menu.

Also up for grabs are a two-foot-long breakfast burrito (seriously!) and some of the biggest taco salads you've ever seen in your life.

Ultimately, though, the tacos are the single biggest draw to this little local Evansville joint.

It's not as if they skimp on these beasts, either. Ingredients include a layer of warm, fresh french fries, a pound of delectable ground beef, two layers of cheese sauce, tomato sauce, and, of course, it's topped with tons of shredded cheddar and mozzarella.

The tacos are one of a kind, for sure, but plenty of their other dishes are worth mentioning, too!

Founded in 2011 by a local couple hoping to bring more of the Latinx culture to Evansville, Los Alfaro's features expertly-crafted cuisine from Mexico as well as nine Central and South American countries.

Also on the menu are some incredible drinks, including chicha morada, a Peruvian treat.

....and if you like piña coladas (and getting caught in the rain), you're in luck! You might not be lounging on a South American beach when you're sipping one of these bad boys, but you'll at least be able to order some delicious food to go with them.

Los Alfaro's is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.

Thursday through Saturday, they open a little earlier at 7:30 a.m. They're closed on Sundays, though, so make sure to get your fix on Saturday at the latest!

For a look at the entire menu, including their to-die-for breakfast menu, online ordering, and so much more, please check out the Los Alfaro's website.
