Since we all know that some of the best BBQ comes from our beloved state of Georgia, we decided to create the ultimate list of BBQ sandwiches in Georgia and just where to find them. So get ready, get hungry, and LET'S CHOW DOWN.
1. DBA Barbecue - 1190 N Highland Ave NE, Ste B, Atlanta, GA 30306
The Archie Bunker at DBA BBQ in Atlanta is a monster of a sandwich and one that you need to add to your bucket list ASAP. Not only is there sweet, succulent pulled pork resting gently on flavorful Texas Toast, but then you have mac and cheese, tangy BBQ sauce, crispy onions, and cheddar cheese to boot. It’s like we died and went to BBQ heaven.
2. Country’s Barbecue - 1329 Broadway, Columbus, GA 31901
It has been stated that Country's Barbecue may just be the best smoked pork BBQ sandwich this side of the Mississippi. It's a local joint with some HUGE flavor. Guess you'll have to just see for yourself.
3. McGhin’s Southern Pit Bar-B-Que - 2964 N Expy, Griffin, GA 30223
There are no bells and whistles at this local BBQ joint, except for the fact that the BBQ sandwich will knock you out of your socks. Don't forget to add some of the world-famous cole slaw to your plate.
4. The Farmhouse BBQ - 575 Rountree Dr, Dawson, GA 39842
The Big Moose at The Farmhouse BBQ is everything you could have imagined and more. Not only are you getting the juicy, tangy taste of the smoked brisket drenched in BBQ sauce, but you also get coleslaw and crispy fried onion rings. It’s a swoon-worthy sandwich.
5. Praise the Lard BBQ - 1350 Buford Hwy NE, Buford, GA 30518
Check this out: The pulled pork sandwich, swimming in the Al Pastor sauce, with a side of Brunswick Stew and Mac n Cheese. I don't know what could be a better lunch option. Answer: nothing.
6. Fincher’s Bar-B-Q - 891 Gray Hwy, Macon, GA 31211
Fincher's is a local favorite for many, and also a hidden gem for most. But that doesn't mean that their pulled pork sandwich is nothing short of incredible. You'll be dreaming about this BBQ sandwich for many years to come.
7. Smokin’ Pig - 3986 Hwy 17, Richmond Hill, GA 31324
When you think of the phrase "diamond in the rough" then Smokin' Pig must come to mind. The BBQ sandwich here is nothing short of sensational. Simple, delicious, good home cooking that is hard to find elsewhere.
8. Papa Buck's BBQ - 1085 S Lewis St, Metter, GA 30439
First and foremost Papa Buck’s BBQ is home to The Pigzilla so it has to be added to this list. But if you’re not looking for something quite that size, then the regular human sized BBQ sandwich is just as scrumptious.
9. Grand Champion BBQ - 982 Canton St, Roswell, GA 30075
It’s everything you could want out of a BBQ sandwich and more. It’s a bit more expensive than you’re average hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint, but once you since your teeth into that insanely tender and flavorful meat, you’ll definitely be back for more.
10. Oglethorpe Barbecue Company - 1956 GA-49, Oglethorpe, GA 31068
This is the type of place that you would have to be told it existed before you visited. But once you sit down in the no-frills restaurant and take your first bite of their BBQ sandwich, you'll wonder why you never visited sooner.
11. Biguns BBQ - 362 Carns Mill Rd, Talking Rock, GA 30175
Do you like to feast on pulled pork sandwiches drowned in tangy, sweet BBQ sauce? Do you like those feasts to be out-of-this-world delicious? Then Biguns BBQ is your place.
12. Tipsy Pig - 3020 Five Forks Trickum Rd SW, Lilburn, GA 30047
It might have an odd location, but DO NOT LET THAT FOOL YOU. Tipsy Pig is said to have some of the best BBQ sandwiches in the country. Sometimes really big flavors come in strange and unusual packages. Right?
13. Southern Soul BBQ - 2020 Demere Rd, Saint Simons Island, GA 31522
The Burnt Ends sandwich at Southern Soul BBQ is not only tender, completely moist, and wonderfully seasoned, but it also has melt-in-your-mouth perfection that just cannot be rivaled anywhere else in Georgia.
14. Old Hickory House - 2202 Northlake Pkwy, Tucker, GA 30084
Old Hickory House has been deemed a Southern Institution. The BBQ pork sandwiches are basically to die for, simply because you can tell the meat just fell off the bone. You won’t be disappointed with this one.
