No one likes waiting in line, but a long line is often a good sign when it comes to restaurants. It means that the food is so good and the atmosphere is so welcoming that people just couldn't keep the place to themselves. This is definitely the case with this long-running restaurant in South Florida where there's always a line, but it's so worth the wait.
Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant is located at 128 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL, 33004.
Unlike some old-fashioned theme restaurants, Jaxson's really has been around for a long time. It opened (in the same location!) in 1956.
Jaxson's, a local legend, has a major nostalgia factor for those who grew up in South Florida.
And the crazy but fun atmosphere inside, full of collectibles, memorabilia, and license plates covering the walls makes it feel like a time machine.
This is obviously no ordinary ice cream parlor. First of all, the ice cream is made in-house and comes in dozens of flavors.
Plus, it doesn't hurt that it's served in dishes as big as your head.
Many loyal patrons swear that Jaxson's serves up the best ice cream in Florida.
For large parties or special occasions, consider the Kitchen Sink -- a mountain of ice cream served in an actual sink. With all the toppings and blazing sparklers, it really makes an event memorable.
The menu is not limited just to sweets, however. Hungry guests can choose from a variety of sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads.
Visiting Jaxson's is a tradition passed down from generation to generation of both visitors and locals. That probably explains the long lines, both day and night, that stretch out the door. Some things are worth the wait, though, and this is one of them.
Have you ever been to Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor & Resetaurant in Dania Beach? What restaurants in Florida do you think are so worth the wait?
