The Lasagna From Lorenzo’s Restaurant Is So Good That The Recipe Hasn’t Changed Since 1926
Lorenzo’s Restaurant in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, is a 95-year-old family-owned Italian eatery known for its unchanged lasagna recipe and unique atmosphere.
In today's world of constant business closures and corporate takeovers, it can be hard to support family-owned small businesses. It seems like mom and pop restaurants are closing down left and right, with new chains popping up on every corner. One of the great things about the Nutmeg State is how many long-standing small businesses we still have left. One place we love supporting is the delicious Lorenzo's Restaurant in Sandy Hook. This little Italian restaurant is little more than a shack and certainly doesn't look like much. Amazingly, it has been around for 95 years and the lasagna is so good that it hasn't changed since the restaurant opened!
You'd be forgiven for driving right by Lorenzo's Restaurant. The building doesn't look particularly modern, and it's tucked away just off the highway and not too far from the river.
In fact, it doesn't look significantly different from when it opened way back in 1926!
Inside, you'll find a charming, homey spot. The atmosphere is like nowhere else, and it feels like you've gone back in time to simpler days when you're in here.
The pizza here is a favorite of many. Much of the pizza in Connecticut is made New Haven-style, but this is made completely differently.
It lacks apizza's signature char, and unlike most New Haven pizzas, mozzarella is a standard topping.
We love the lasagna! Meatballs, sausage, three different kinds of cheese, and marinara sauce all combine to make a delicious dish. The recipe has been the same since the restaurant opened in 1926: it's that good!
Whether you stop by for pasta or pizza, this Italian restaurant in Connecticut is sure to not disappoint.
