The Gold Hill Inn restaurant opened in its current form in 1962 when it was purchased by Barbara and Frank Finn.
Previously, this building served as a dining hall for a women-only hotel called the Bluebird Lodge.
There's so much history around this place. Gold Hill was the site of the first discovery of gold in Colorado, way back on January 15, 1859.
In 1989, 47 buildings, including the Gold Hill Inn, were formed into the Gold Hill Historic District and were placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, about 220 people live in the small town of Gold Hill.
Not much has changed inside this building since it was constructed in 1924. You'll feel like you stepped back in time.
The menu here is small and always changing. Guests can choose among various items on a prix-fixe menu that consists of numerous courses; often as many as six.
You'll always get some fresh made bread, made in-house.
An appetizer is often included and a soup - you can choose between hot or cold soup options.
Your meal also comes with a salad.
You'll also be able to choose from among a list of about ten entrees. Everything is fresh and tasty.
The entrees served at the Gold Hill Inn are simple and attractive. These dishes are similar to what past guests likely ate in this building almost a century ago.
Often, you'll find mains including pork, duck, chicken, rabbit, beef, or fish.
And the sides all compliment the main quite well.
