Some locals will to go to great lengths to prove just how much they love all things associated to Denver. They sport their orange and blue to show pride in the Broncos, hike up nearby mountains to check 14'ers off their list, and make sure to dine on the foods that the Mile High City is known for.
But, just how far would they be willing to go to show their devotion to Denver's well-loved breakfast burrito? Pulling up a seat at Jack-n-Grill's and attempting to eat their massive 7 lb. breakfast burrito in one sitting would definitely test any Denverite's limits. Only the bravest (who have the strongest stomachs) can be awarded such a badge of honor.
Jack-n-Grill brings a taste of the southwest to Denver with their New Mexican cuisine that is made from family recipes that have been handed down through the generations.
While they may be known for their wide variety of green chile cheeseburgers and famous house margaritas, they have become legendary for offering this impressive food challenge.
This 7 pound breakfast burrito challenge was featured on Travel Channel's Man vs. Food, and hungry folks from near and far make their way to this local joint to see if their hearty appetite is big enough to polish off the mountain of food on their plate.
The burrito costs $24 (but is free if you finish) and it must be eaten in its entirety in one sitting.
Inside the burrito you will find 12 scrambled eggs, 5 lbs of hashbrown potatoes, 1/2 lb. of ham, and 1/2 lb. of jack and cheddar cheese. It's loaded with peppers and onions and liberally smothered in red and green chili.
This burrito measures in at around 12 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 4 inches high.
Here's a little perspective. Which one is bigger? The burrito or the baby?
So, what do the few who actually polish it off receive (besides pride in accomplishing such a feat)?
If you finish the burrito, you receive your meal for free, a button, and get to proudly post your picture on the Wall of Fame.
Women who consume the entire burrito are awarded free meals for life at Jack-n-Grill.
If you think you're up for this challenge, visit Jack-n-Grill's, where after one bite you will experience the truth behind their motto, "Our secret ingredient is Love." Their address is 2524 Federal Blvd. in Denver, CO 80211.
