It's easy to walk along the streets of downtown Cincinnati and choose one of the many restaurants that line the streets, but if you're looking for something new, this lunch spot hidden within one of our city's beautiful museums is a true winner. Located within the Taft Museum of Art, the Lindner Family Cafe serves incredible food in a delightful atmosphere, and if you have yet to visit, you'll want to give it a try.
The Taft Museum of Art is a treasured Cincinnati landmark in a lovely area of downtown.
This historic museum has plenty of appeal to warrant a visit with intriguing artwork and rotating exhibits, but you may not know that there is a charming cafe hidden inside that has a unique approach to the midday meal.
The Lindner Family Cafe is open Wednesday - Friday from 11am to 2pm and Saturday - Sunday from 11am to 3pm. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
The cafe has a beautiful patio that is perfect for a nice day, and the inside is also quaint and comfortable with plenty of natural light and spacious seating options.
The menu is the real highlight of the cafe, and while it does always include a few staples, the majority of the offerings rotate with the exhibits that come and go from the museum.
For example, during the exhibit "Treasures of British Painting," the lunch menu included Shepherdess Pie and Lord Henry’s Well-Dressed Salad. The daily quiche that is always a part of the brunch and lunch menu is consistently delicious, as are all of the choices from this fresh, made-from-scratch cafe.
If you plan on visiting the cafe during the week for lunch, you'll heading on in without a reservation; however, for weekend brunch or lunch, a reservation is recommended and can be made by calling (513) 352-5140.
The museum often hosts events for all different ages and interests, from the family-friendly 3rd Sunday Fundays to evening fundraisers. There's always a reason to spend time at this historic Cincinnati museum and the cafe gives you yet another excuse to pay it a visit.
