Daley's Restaurant is on the south side of the city in the Woodlawn neighborhood. It is the oldest restaurant in town and has been around since 1892.
Opened by an Irish immigrant who came to the area to work on the elevated line, the diner was established to serve lunch to workers, many of whom also built The World's Columbian Exposition and the Rapid Transit Line.
You can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week at this fantastic eatery. It is open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., so there's no excuse not to stop in!
The restaurant was sold to Greek immigrants in 1918, who started out as just a waiter and a cook. The original building was to be torn down in 1932, but the bank fell through on a loan, so it had to be postponed. Once the owners saved enough money, they finally finished reconstruction in 1937. Over the years, it has been expanded to encompass more traffic by the sons who took over the business.
This vintage diner serves homemade comfort food that locals can't get enough of.
Consisting of mostly American cuisine, the food is reasonably priced to better serve hungry locals.
Breakfast lovers will die for these menu items.
You can get anything from egg sandwiches, Denver omelet skillets, French toast, and so much more. The best part is you can get your favorite brunch delights any time of day!
For dinner, patrons enjoy basically whatever they want.
Whether you're going for hearty, light, or in between, there's something for everyone. Enjoy anything from seafood to chicken, pork, and beef and dishes like various sandwiches, meatloaf, mac and cheese, and burgers.
