The One Restaurant In Northern California That’s Unlike Any Other In The World

You'd have to be crazy to think of opening a business like this one. But, apparently, a nightclub and laundromat go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Actually, this is not your typical nightclub. It moonlights as a coffee shop and cafe in the daytime. In the evening there's music or comedy or even open mic events. Pick your poison. You can find this one of a kind restaurant only in Northern California.

This establishment got its start in 1987 when Susan Schindler was looking for somewhere to open a nightclub. It wasn't long before Cafe Laundre was opened. Later the name changed...more on that later.

When Susan Schindler opened this business she realized this part of town was in need of a laundromat. So she married her idea of night club and laundromat.

When was the last time you did your laundry and enjoyed surf and turf?

The nightclub feel is definitely in one part of this hip diner/coffee shop/bar. The food is one of the best parts. According to one customer, "A great place for solid food--and perfect place to study."

Or, enjoyed a nonfat vanilla latte while you waited for your towels to dry?

You can get a solid mocha here if that's what you need. But, they also offer juices and kambucha. Plus, there's wifi so of course it's going to be a destination cafe, right?

Pinball machines? Absolutely! As a matter of fact, bring your kids along and show them what life was like pre-video games. Yeah, we had fun!

Not a pinball player? Maybe mocha shakes are more up your alley.

The make a good burger and fries. Plus, their shakes are pretty tasty, too. Summertime is the right time for laundry-ice cream for sure.

The nighttime crowd can fluff and fold while listening to wannabe comedians cut their teeth on stage. You can find wannabe comedians here first. There's even open mic nights and live music. One customer shared that they enjoy coming here for a drink and the comedy show before heading out for a night of dancing in the City. Great idea!
