We Wandered Off-The-Beaten-Path And Discovered This Delightful Cafe In Southern California
Recently, I was having dinner with a friend at a lovely spot on Rodeo Drive and, after a delicious meal, we were both too full for dessert. But as we made our way back to the car, we were both craving a good cup of coffee. Being almost 9 p.m., most coffee shops were closed, but my Google Maps search showed one spot open a couple of miles from us, away from the hubbub. If not for that, I would never have discovered the delightful Cassetta Cafe in Beverly Hills, CA, but I am very glad I did!
Cassetta is in the heart of Beverly Hills, which most would not consider *off the beaten path* but within this city, it really is. Tucked on a quiet residential street just off of Robertson Boulevard, you kind of have to know this tiny cafe is here, or be Googling something like ice cream or coffee in this immediate area, to find it.
I honestly didn’t get the cassette theme at first, but after reading a sign on the wall, I kind of fell in love with it. It’s a nod to the so-called “Cassette era” - a time of tape decks, boom boxes, making mixed tapes, and creating memories to the sounds of that era's classic songs.
Even at night, the white minimalist design made the place feel bright, airy, and welcoming.
The menu is pretty extensive, with all sorts of coffee, tea, and specialty drinks. If you don’t know exactly what you want when you come, it could take a while to decide.
Like I said, we came here for a warm cup of coffee, which is exactly what I ordered. I love that they have several flavor and non-dairy milk options. I got an oat milk latte and it was perfect.
Remember how I said we were too full for dessert? Well, either my mom was right (“there is always room for ice cream”) or the desserts were just too pretty to pass up!
Of all the options - and there are quite a few - my friend and I both ordered the Biscoffle soft serve. I am obsessed with Biscoff cookies - add caramel and I am a goner. Nearly every soft-serve comes with these tiny fresh flowers, making them oh-so-Instagram-worthy.
There are lots of fresh baked yummies here, too. In fact, you see the half-croissant next to the cookies? You can order your soft-serve dessert in one of those for an extra level of decadence. I am going to try that next time for sure.
I have to say, I am so glad we stumbled on this fantastic coffee and dessert spot! Have you heard of the laid-back Cassetta Cafe in Beverly Hills, CA? Check out Cassetta Cafe on Facebook, and maybe head over there to try it for yourself. Thinking of spending a weekend in this iconic city? This tiny out-of-the-way shop should be on your to-do list. And if you have yet to decide where to stay, The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills is stunning. In fact, in our opinion, it's one of the best places to stay in SoCal.
