Little Portion Bakery Is Part Of A Beautiful Arkansas Monastery And You Have To Visit

You don’t have to join a monastery to eat like a monk. Instead, all you have to do is pay a visit to Little Portion Bakery. Part of a monastery, the setting couldn’t be more idyllic. Of course, the main reason to visit the bakery is its slew of homemade goodies, which are billed as some of the healthiest and tastiest in the nation.

Nestled in the Ozarks, Little Portion Hermitage in Berryville is a monastery with prayer gardens and a bakeshop, Little Portion Bakery.

Born out of necessity, the bakery opened after a fire destroyed the monastery. Following the fire, funds were tight, and so, Viola Talbot, one of the monastery’s founders, began making granola to feed the monastery’s residents.

The granola was so good that people began asking where they could buy it – and the rest is history!

The bakery still whips up its signature granola. And it’s just as much of a hit today, as it was years ago.

But granola isn’t the only tasty treat made at Little Portion Bakery.

The bakery also whips up cookies and Hermit Bars, another signature creation.

Not only are the baked goods fresh and delicious, but they’re all available in both regular and gluten-free versions.

And the best part of all is that 10% of all profits are used to support needy women and children, so you can feel good about indulging.

Either before or after you stock up on sweets, take some time to walk the grounds, which are open to the public during the week.

Spanning 450 acres, the property features paths, benches, and gardens filled with colorful blooms, towering trees, and arbors. There’s a charming chapel, too.
