My favorite thing about living in Florida is that we are surrounded by stunning oases. From pristine beaches to beautiful lakes to pretty lagoons and springs, we have lots of havens to escape to. Many of these destinations are found on our coasts or close to larger cities, but there is one oasis in rural Levy County that you must visit. Manatee Springs, located in the small town of Chiefland, could arguably be the prettiest spring in Florida, and it's perfect for making a splash this year. Let’s explore this breathtaking Florida destination and bask in all its glory.
How does spending the day swimming in a turquoise lagoon sound to you? If you like that idea, then head to the rural town of Chiefland Florida to explore Manatee Springs.
This beautiful oasis is tucked inside Manatee Springs State Park, and it's the perfect place to make a splash this year. Grab the entire family for a day of fun in the prettiest spring in Florida.
The park boasts several attractions including an 800-foot boardwalk that passes through towering cypress woodlands.
The boardwalk meanders around the spring, so you can marvel at the lagoon from the sideline.
Other amenities include kayaking, hiking trails, camping, cave diving, tours, and so much more.
Of course, the centerpiece of the park is its namesake, Manatee Springs. And in my opinion, it's one of the prettiest springs in our state.
The crystal-clear cool water is great for floating, swimming, or wading on a warm summer day. Bring a tube as well as your snorkels for extra adventure.
During the cooler months, you could witness the docile manatees swimming in the spring. These adorable creatures are always a pleasure to watch.
Grab your kayak or rent one from the park and float alongside these gentle giants. It's an experience unlike any other.
Of course, the little kids and the big kids will love taking pictures on the manatee statues located on the boardwalk overlook.
As you can see, the spring is surrounded by a canopy of trees, which makes it feel like you're in another world.
Truly, it's the perfect haven to make a splash on a warm summer day.
If you would like to explore the park, it features hiking trails, boating, fishing, tent/RV camping, and more. Nature lovers will enjoy the abundance of wildlife lurking around the park.
Aside from the pretty springs, you'll also have access to the Suwanee River, which is a whole other adventure by itself. So, if you're searching for a peaceful escape, head to Manatee Springs in the rural town of Chiefland Florida. Let's make a splash this year!
