Few People Know There’s A Florida Island You Can Walk To

Realistically, when most people hear the word “island” they would immediately assume that the location is only accessible by boat, ferry, or other aquatic means of transportation. Rightly so. However, there is one island in Florida that few people know they can actually walk to. Not only is this island a spectacular place to spend time, but it also provides stunning, sweeping views of the ocean.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! A few pro tips for walking to Caladesi Island:

  • Pack water and light snacks.
  • Begin the walk just as the ocean is transitioning from high tide to low tide. This way you can make it back before high tide.
  • If high tide rolls in, it isn’t the end of the world, but you’ll just be in some serious water up to your knees!
  • Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet.
