Split Oak Forest in Florida is a stunning natural wonderland outside of Orlando that is the perfect place to reconnect with nature.
With tons of wildlife viewing opportunities, over nine miles of marked trails, and bird watching, this giant 2,000-acre preserve is a slice of natural heaven.
But perhaps the highlight of the visit is hiking the 5-mile trail known as the Three Lakes Loop.
This hike has minimal elevation gain, so it’s been dubbed great for all skill levels, and it is accessible year-round.
The loop will take you by three of the most beautiful lakes in the area, which makes for a great photo opportunity.
You’ll likely have a different experience depending on when you visit—for instance, hiking when spring is in the air and flowers are in bloom will be quite magical.
Also, you’ll want to make sure that you visit the live oak tree that is the main attraction within this forest—a 200-year-old-tree with long, spindly branches, practically out of a fairytale.
Keep an eye out for various wildlife too, from the gopher tortoises to the indigo snakes and more.
Enjoy a five-mile trek through nature and get to witness firsthand a new side of serenity in Central Florida.
