Celebrate Spring Like a Local in Scenic Jackson, Wyoming

I live in one of the most beautiful corners of the country. Not far from my home are multiple national and state parks, such as Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. It is also just a short drive to Jackson, Wyoming, one of my favorite towns in the Cowboy State. While this is a terrific year-round getaway destination, there’s something special about this area in the spring when wildflowers bloom, baby animals start making an appearance, and the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram begins its scenic rides.

Jackson has no shortage of natural beauty. Just outside of Grand Teton National Park, this town offers gorgeous mountain views, fiery sunsets, and bucket-list-worthy outdoor opportunities. There are many ways to experience the natural beauty of this area, such as on a scenic drive or along one of the many hiking trails in the area, but the Aerial Tram may be one of the best.

The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram is located at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and will make you feel like you are “on top of the world.” The trams take you over 4,100 vertical feet and feature large windows where you can stand and enjoy the scenery throughout your 12-minute ride. You never know what you may see — this is a fantastic wildlife viewing opportunity!

And while the ride is certainly beautiful, the view from the top of the summit of Rendezvous Mountain is stunning. Here, you’ll enjoy 360-degree views of the Jackson Hole Valley and my favorite mountain range, the Tetons.

We recommend you bring your hiking gear and wear a sturdy pair of shoes, as several trails can be accessed from the top of the mountain, such as the Rock Springs Loop and the Cody Peak Lookout. If you are looking for an easy, family-friendly trail, tackle the Top of the World Trail, a 0.5-mile round-trip hike offering some astounding views, and you really will feel like you are on top of the world.

And if hunger strikes, head to Corbet’s Cabin, a unique restaurant at more than 10,000 feet in elevation that serves world-famous gourmet waffles. This is certainly a unique dining experience that you won’t soon forget.

Of course, this is just the beginning of the adventures you will find at the summit of Rendezvous Mountain. For a heart-racing experience, you can fly with the birds as you paraglide with professional pilots. You can also take a walk along the Grand Teton Skywalk, where you can admire Grand Teton in the distance.

The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram will run from May 16 to October 4 in 2026, and their hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a fee per person, and we recommend purchasing your tickets online for discounted rates.
